Joanne Loo is a visual artist and illustrator based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

With a background in graphic design and illustration, Joanne has in recent years actively explored various creative outlets to examine personal experiences and how they connect, divide, and define us as human beings. 

DRAwing from her childhood in a Malaysian-Chinese family, Joanne’s work confronts dissonance between her formative years and her experiences as an adult. Her questioning results in her current body of work, expressed through sculptural vessels made of papier-mache that serve as poignant representations of self. Through colour, textures and storytelling, Joanne’s work prompts kinship and introspection within viewers, inviting them to look into their own narratives.
